FABRIC WASTE MANAGEMENT AS AN APPLICATION ON PARTY WEAR

Waste is a residual substance that has no value and function, yielded from a production activity and process. Waste and garbages are also useless and tend to be disposed by many people, and if done so for a long period of time will cause disease and polute the environment. Fabric waste is a kind of waste which is difficult to manage due to it being an anorganic waste which is difficult to be naturally disintegrated, and if it is disposed by incineration will yield poisonous gas that endangers the environment.
According to the observation performed by the researcher on various fashion outlet companies in Bandung, the amount of textile waste disposed reaches approximately thirty kilograms each week with different types, sizes, and colors. Based on said issues, these wastes are recycled by perfoming an exploration on fabric material waste with the purpose of increasing the value of the wastes, including: functional, aesthetic, and economical value. This research used qualitative and quantitative method with data gathered from literature study on various journals and articles, and also through observation and interview at the sight of fabric waste followed by exploration on the waste material. Waste management is done by hot textile technique utilizing solder to alter the shape of the waste. The processed waste yields attractive flowery shape leading to the fabric waste appliable as fashion accessory on party wear, thus improving the party wear product with aesthetic and originality value.
