ABSTRAKSI: Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi data di dunia modern semakin cepat dan beragam seperti gadget yang digunakan. Salah satu yang terpopuler saat ini adalah smart phone berbasis Android. Banyak aplikasi yang dapat digunakan dengan gadget ini sehingga sangat diminati semua kalangan. Oleh karena itu, smart phone berbasis Android sangat efektif dan efisien untuk menyebarkan informasi.
Proyek akhir ini akan membahas bagaimana merancang sebuah aplikasi layanan informasi cuaca dengan menggunakan Geographic Information System (GIS) berbasis Android. GIS akan digunakan sebagai media informasi yang menunujukan letak atau posisi pengguna. Disamping itu, akan dimasukan atribut pada GIS berupa informasi cuaca. Aplikasi layanan untuk informasi cuaca berbasis Android akan digunakan sebagai media informasi melalui smart phone yang dapat diakses oleh pengguna. Dengan menggunakan smart phone pengguna dapat dengan mudah mengakses informasi secara mobile dan up to date.
Dari hasil proyek akhir ini, telah dihasilkan suatu layanan informasi yang menggabungkan GIS dengan informasi cuaca yang memiliki kemampuan yang mobile, akurat, dan up to date. Terbukti dari beberapa pengujian yang dilakukan pada aplikasi ini. Seperti pungujian MOS (Mean Opinion Score), aplikasi memiliki nilai 4,13(dari skala 5). Dengan kata lain responden sangat bersedia menggunakan aplikasi ini.Kata Kunci : Smart Phone, Android, Geographic Information System, mobile, dan up toABSTRACT: Development of data communications technology in the modern world increasingly and diverse as the gadget we used. One of the most popular currently is Android-based smart phone. There are many applications can be used for everybody with this gadgets. That why, the Android-based smart phones are very effective and efficient way to disseminate information.
The final project will address how to design a weather information service application by using Geographic Information System (GIS) for Android-based gadget. GIS will be used as a medium of information that indicate the location or position of the user. In addition, it will be included in the GIS attribute information of the weather. Service applications for Android-based weather information will be used as a medium of information through a smart phone that can be accessed by the user. By using a smart phone users can easily access information in mobile and up to date.
The result in this final project is to produce an information service that combines GIS with weather information that has the capability of mobile, accurate, and up to date. Evidently from some tests performed on this application. such as MOS (Mean Opinion Score), the application get 4.13 point (scale of 5).
