ABSTRAKSI: IT Telkom merupakan suatu instansi pendidikan yang menyediakan fasilitas internet sebagai penunjang kegiatan mahasiswa. Untuk menyediakan layanan internet selain kebutuhan bandwith, hal yang harus diperhatikan adalah kerangka manajemen jaringan internet yang terdiri dari server dan router. Server mencakup pada VPN server, DNS, database server,web, dan FTV server. Seiring dengan bertambahnya jumlah mahasiswa IT Telkom setiap tahunnya maka tingkat penggunaan jaringan internet maupun jaringan intranet juga ikut meningkat. Dikhawatirkan adanya masalah-masalah yang terjadi pada jaringan IT Telkom seperti jaringan putus, servis suatu server mati, ruter mati, dll. Oleh karena terbatasnya kemampuan admin untuk memantau kondisi jaringan IT Telkom, maka dibutuhkan suatu sistem yang dapat memantau jaringan IT Telkom secara terus-menerus yaitu Network Monitoring System (NMS).
NMS merupakan seperangkat tententitas hardware dan software untuk memonitor dan mengontrol suatu sistem yang terintegrasi secara terpusat (centralized) sehingga dapat mengetahui adanya masalah – masalah pada sistem jaringan IT Telkom sehingga dapat diketahui secara dini.
Dalam Proyek Akhir ini akan diimplementasikan Network Monitoring System (NMS) pada jaringan IT TELKOM. Sehingga diharapkan masalah-masalah yang terjadi pada jaringan IT Telkom dapat teratasi dengan lebih cepat sehingga diperoleh layanan jaringan yang lebih berkualitas dalam melayani kebutuhan mahasiswa IT Telkom.Kata Kunci : Network Monitoring System (NMS), serverABSTRACT: IT Telkom is an educational institution that provides internet facilities to support student activities. To provide internet services in addition to bandwidth requirements, things to note is that the Internet network management framework consisting of servers and routers. With SMS gateway application system, admin can know the connection is still connected with LAN or not in server. Admin can also update the routing to connect a network with other networks using SMS gateway system. If it turns out the process of routing failures due to lost network connections. To do routing admin needs a router that is used for the routing process, one form of the router is a router PC is a PC used as a router. After doing the routing, administrator can perform ping and traceroute commands to ensure the results of routing updates that have been previously sent via sms. Servers and networks are built using Linux Ubuntu 10:04 (Lucid Lynx).
In this final project will be implemented in Network Monitoring System (NMS) on Telkom IT network. So hopefully the problems that occurred on Telkom IT network can be solved more quickly in order to obtain a higher quality network services in serving the needs of students and IT Telkom.Keyword: Network Monitoring System (NMS), server
