ABSTRAKSI: Pertumbuhan permintaan layanan akses internet yang tinggi merupakan peluang bisnis yang harus ditanggapi secara serius dengan menyediakan infrastruktur akses yang bagus dan tepat. Pemenuhan permintaan akses internet tersebut dapat dipercepat dengan mengimplementasikan Wimax (IEEE 802.16d). Wimax merupakan teknologi BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) yang menjadi primadona dalam memberikan solusi akses broadband ke pelanggan.
Dalam Thesis ini dilakukan kajian tekno-ekonomi tentang implementasi Wimax (IEEE 802.16d) dengan menggunakan wireless MAN di wilayah Kota Bandung.
Metodologi yang dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan kajian teknis dan bisnis. Dalam kajian teknis adalah melakukan perhitungan link budget, dimana hal ini untuk menentukan capacity dan menentukan coverage. Sedangkan pada sisi bisnis dilakukan analisa kelayakan investasi dan analisa sensitivitas terhadap implementasi tersebut.
Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, maka bila digelar Wimax di Kota Bandung dari sisi tekno-ekonomi diperoleh Net Present Value sebesar Rp 1.168.912.302, Internal Rate of Return sebesar 32%, dan Payback Period selama 2 tahun 9 bulan. Atau dengan kata lain, bisnis Wimax ini layak secara ekonomis.

Fulfilling the request of internet access can be accelerated by implementing Wimax (IEEE 802.16d). Wimax is a technology BWA (Broadband Wireless Access), which likely will be excellent in providing broadband access solutions to customers.
In this Thesis, techno-economic study conducted for the implementation of Wimax (IEEE 802.16d) using wireless MAN in Bandung city.
Methodology is done by doing study the technical and business. In the technical study is to calculation link budget, where this is to determine the coverage of service and determine the capacity of users. While in the business study is conducted the feasibility of the investment analysis and the sensitivity analysis toward these implementation.
From the research that has been done, so if Wimax held in Bandung from the techno-economic side provide Net Present Value Rp 1.168.912.302, Internal Rate of Return of 32%, and Payback Period 2 years and 9 months.
