ABSTRAKSI: Popularitas layanan akses internet broadband telah meningkat secara signifikan di kalangan masyarakat Indonesia selama beberapa tahun terakhir. Pada saat yang sama, perkembangan teknologi nirkabel telah berkembang dengan cepat. Sebagai hasil dari tren ini, mungkin jaringan Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) telah diusulkan sebagai saingan untuk akses broadband teknologi lainnya, seperti sistem Digital Subscriber Line (DSL). Baru-baru ini telah diterbitkan suatu standar teknis dari Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) yang diharapkan dapat memperbaiki posisi jaringan Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) sebagai alternatif akses teknologi. Interoperabilitas bersertifikat dan harga yang rendah diharapkan dapat memperbaiki masalah utama dari generasi sistem BWA sebelumnya. Standar teknis yang dimaksud adalah IEEE 802.16e atau lebih dikenal dengan mobile wimax yang di implementasikan sebagai jaringan akses broadband di wilayah JABODETABEK. Dengan faktor pertumbuhan pelanggan sebesar 15%, implementasi mobile wimax di wilayah JABODETABEK masih belum dikatakan layak untuk investasi. Namun, dengan perbaikan faktor pertumbuhan pelanggan sebesar 50% dan perbaikan secara teknis maupun ekonomis, implementasi mobile wimax di wilayah JABODETABEK bisa dikatakan layak.

At the same time, the development of wireless technology has evolved rapidly. Technical IEEE 802.16e standard is better known as mobile wimax is implemented as a broadband access network in the JABODETABEK region. With customer growth factors by 15%, mobile wimax implementation in the JABODETABEK region still has not said worth the investment. However, with improvements in customer growth factor by 50% and improved technically and economically, mobile wimax implementation in the JABODETABEK region could be said to deserve.
