ABSTRAKSI: Mesin pencari merupakan sebuah aplikasi yang mampu mengindeks berbagai URL berada di internet sehingga mempunyai database besar tentang web lengkap dengan deskripsinya. Sedangkan aplikasi “mesin pencari teks pada gambar” ini melakukan pencarian yang lebih spesifik, yaitu teks yang terdapat pada gambar. Proses kerja dari mesin ini dapat dibagi menjadi 3 bagian, yaitu crawling, text recognition, dan searching. Proses crawling bertugas menelusuri URL, mencari, dan men-download gambar yang berawal dari feed URL. Di sisi lain, proses text recognition bekerja paralel dengan proses crawling ini. Gambar yang telah diperoleh, diproses secara sekuensial. Proses text recognition bertugas melakukan ekstraksi teks yang terdapat dalam gambar. Kemudian teks tersebut diubah menjadi term-term, disimpan, dan di-indeks dalam database. Aplikasi yang berhubungan langsung dengan user yaitu subsystem search. Di sini, pengguna memasukkan teks pada interface yang telah disediakan, lalu mesin akan mencari teks ke database sesuai dengan pola teks inputan. Kemudian file gambar dari data yang bersesuaian akan ditampilkan. Keseluruhan sistem ini mampu menyediakan mesin pencari dengan fitur similar match yang mencari kata sama dengan inputan user, dan exact match yang mencari kata mirip dengan inputan user. Fitur ini disediakan karena hasil ekstraksi teks tidak selalu tepat dengan teks sesungguhnya pada gambar.Kata Kunci : crawling, text recognition, searching, termABSTRACT: Search engine is an application which capable to index URLs from internet so it have large web full description database. This “text on images search engine” perform more specific searching, it is text appeared on image. This machine contain 3 subsystems, they are crawling, text recognition, and searching it self. Crawling process has job to crawl URLs, find, and download image on every page. This job start with a feed URL given by admin. In other side, text recognition process work parallel with this crawling process. The images mined, will be processed sequencially. The main duty of recognition process is to ectract text from image. And then, these text divide into terms, saved, and indexed on database. Part of system that have direct interaction with user is search subsystem. In this application, user has to enter keywords of searching on the text input form, and system will find terms in database that considere to the keywords. Finally, the result images will be showed to user. Overall, this system provides search engine with specific features, similar match that search similar term with user query input, and exact match that search same term with user query input. These options available because of the text extraction results weren’t always exactly same with the real text on image.Keyword: crawling, text recognition, searching, term
