ABSTRAKSI: Teknologi komunikasi berkembang dengan pesat, berakibat juga pada penggunaan berbagai jenis informasi. Jenis informasi yang beragam tidak hanya berbasiskan teks atau suara saja, juga menggunakan jenis informasi berbentuk gambar, baik gambar diam maupun gambar bergerak. Kualitas informasi merupakan ukuran dalam mengkonsumsi informasi, terutama ketika waktu, akurasi serta efisiensi operasional menjadi sangat signifikan.
Metode yang diangkat adalah pengenalan plat nomor kendaraan secara otomatis dengan menggunakan OCR (Optical Character Recognition), yaitu melakukan teknik manipulasi untuk mendeteksi, normalisasi, dan meng-enhance citra, yang akhirnya OCR melakukan ekstraksi karakter pada plat nomor kendaraan
AVPR at Parking Gate adalah suatu perangkat lunak untuk melakukan pendeteksian dan pengenalan plat nomor kendaraan secara otomatis, dengan menggunakan sebuah kamera yang ditempatkan pada gerbang parkir, sehingga menghasilkan output akhir berupa informasi, seperti; nomor plat, jam masuk dan keluar, dan biaya parkir.
Aplikasi AVPR at Parking Gate ini beroperasi pada sistem Personal Computer (PC), dibangun dengan toolkit pemrogramman Microsoft Visual Basic 6 dan HALCON (Version 7.0.2) dengan bahasa pemrogramannya HDevelop (version 4.0.2).Kata Kunci : OCR, AVPR at Parking GateABSTRACT: Today, Communication technology development (information and telecommunication) have been increased rapidly, so it caused the use of any kind of information. At this moment, the kind of information is not only based on text or voice, but also based on image, weather it is a still image or moving image. The quality of information is a parameter in consuming it, especially when time, accurate, and operational efficiency become significant.
One method that is raised is automatic vehicle plate recognition by using OCR (Optical Character Recognition), that use manipulation technique to detect, normalize, and enhance the image, and then extract the character on the vehicle plate.
AVPR at Parking Gate is a software to detect and recognize the vehicle plate automatically, by using a camera that placed at parking gate, so that could result an information, such as; plate number, entry and out time, and parking fee.
