ABSTRAKSI: Teknologi telekomunikasi saat ini berkembang dengan sangat cepat. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pengguna telepon selular, PT Mobile-8 sebagai operator selular berbasis CDMA menawarkan Fren sebagai produk layanannya. Produk Fren dari Mobile-8 menerapkan teknologi Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 2000 1x dan EVDO (Evolution of Data Only), yang memungkinkan pelanggan menikmati fasilitas-fasilitas menarik dan baru dalam perkembangan teknologi selular di Indonesia.
Dengan menggunakan teknologi selular terbaru, kecanggihan jaringan Fren dapat memberikan kualitas suara yang lebih baik dan kemampuan mengakses data sampai 2.4Mbps. Salah satu produk layanan yang diberikan adalah VAS (Value Added Services) yang merupakan layanan tambahan di luar fitur dan layanan standar. Layanan ini dapat dinikmati berkat kecepatan transfer data yang tinggi dari Fren.
Aplikasi Video Chat ini berupa komunikasi antara dua orang atau lebih yang dilengkapi text untuk tambahan agar user yang sedang berkomunikasi dapat berhubungan dengan banyak user yang aktif dalam vidoe chat ini.
Jaringan CDMA 2000-1XEV-DO Mobile 8 masih layak untuk aplikasi video chat karena persentase call drop nya kecil, yaitu sebesar 7.02 % dan persentase complete call nya sebesar 96.89 %, sehingga keberhasilan panggilan akan sangat mempengaruhi unjuk kerja jaringan yang sedang beroperasi dan sebagai tolak ukur menentukan kualitas pelayanan kepada pelanggan.Kata Kunci : -ABSTRACT: Telecommunications technology in this time expand by leaps and by bounds. By using newest cellular technology, a network Fren earn to give better voice quality and ability of data access until 2.4Mbps.
