ABSTRAKSI: Salah satu tuntutan yang harus dihadapi oleh dunia indutri jasa saat ini adalah menciptakan sistem pelayanan terhadap publik yang memberikan kemudahan dalam tukar menukar informasi, transaksi, dengan tingkat keamanan yang tinggi. Masalah ini juga dapat dijumpai pada lingkungan kerja apa saja yang membutuhkan faktor-faktor seperti : mobilitas tinggi, keamanan data, ketangguhan terhadap gangguan, kestabilan dan unjuk kerja yang tinggi. Perpustakaan adalah salah satu dari jenis industri jasa yang menghadapi tantangan yang disebutkan di atas.
Salah satu teknologi yang menawarkan solusi adalah RFID. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) adalah teknologi compact wireless yang diunggulkan untuk mentransformasi dunia komersial. Sebagai suksesor dari barcode, RFID dapat melakukan kontrol otomatis untuk banyak hal. Sistem-sistem RFID menawarkan peningkatan efisiensi dalam pengendalian inventaris (inventory control), logistik dan manajemen rantai pasokan (supply chain management).
Tujuan dari tugas akhir ini adalah untuk membuat sebuah piranti inventaris perpustakaan dengan menggunakan teknologi RFID. Diharapkan dengan tugas akhir kita dapat mengetahui bagaimana teknologi RFID dapat diterapkan dalam perpustakaan, bagaimana cara kerja RFID dan keunggulan teknologi ini dibandingkan dengan teknologi barcode yang dipakai saat ini.
Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari pembuatan tugas akhir ini adalah bahwa tingkat kesalahan pembacaan, penulisan dan pengidentifikasian RFID adalah 0% dan perbandingan kecepatan antara RFID dan barcode mencapai 1:6.Kata Kunci : RFID, perpustakaan, sistem inventarisABSTRACT: One of demand which must be faced by world service industry in common is create public service system to giving amenity in converting converts information, transaction, with level of high security and safety.
