This book is comprised of a number of research papers presented at several Computer s in Railways Conferences. It has been compiled by G. Sciutto, from Università degli Studi di Genova, and contains selected papers originating from different countries, such as France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain, USA, and Taiwan. There is a strong lack of agreement regarding the safety approaches adopted by different transportation modes, while the sudden increased demand for security for both freight and passengers has motivated a more uniform methodological approach. The papers in this volume give an overview of the current state of the art in analytical approaches, methods and simulation tools for the modelling and analysis of the safety and security of transport networks.
