This book is about writing good cases quickly. This fifth edition, like its predecessors, includes further refinements and is relevant in today’s ever changing environment. It identifies case writing as a three phase process and guides the reader through each phase. From the first edition in 1973, we have tried to apply management principles to the process of case writing to focus on producing good quality cases quickly. By concentrating on both efficiency and effectiveness, we developed a number of tools and concepts to reduce set-up time and to assure quality. We still believe the development of the Case Plan with its five components is the central planning tool for effective case development.
