This book suggests that a project management office responsible for projects could be established with all the features and flexibilities for commercial operations. An organisation should prepare and develop its vision, mission,
strategic objectives such that they should constitute the basis of the business
plan which should be implemented for successful functional and commercial
operations over the lifetime of the deliverables. For example, if a government
or any other organisation decides to plan and implement a project such that
its deliverable will operate commercially in the market, then it is imperative,
for success and sustainability, that the deliverable is designed, executed and
resourced to operate profitably over its planned product lifetime. It should
operate independently and not depend on the government or an external
organisation for its funding. This is the overarching message of this book.
