PTPN VIII Ciater is a company that established since 1957 which has focus on plantation sector. Orthodox black tea is one of the PTPN VIII product. Quality assessment in PTPN VIII Ciater have done organoleptically by the assessor. Sometimes the same black tea powder got different grade from assessment process by PTPN VIII Ciater and PTPN VIII Sindang Sirna. That different quality assessment result is result of quality assessment process that is not objective and miss quality determination. That is why consistent quality assessment system needed to realize an objective assessment process. Purpose of this research is to provide optimum parameter combination for assessing black tea powder by determining its color. Finding of this research is the optimum parameter for identificate black tea powder color is 1500 lx of light intensity, 16 cm of camera distance, 1392x 768 pixel of camera resolution, and thresholding with composition H 0.96, S 0, V0.38.
