The development of postmodern thinking in the art world that was born as a reaction to the emergence of modern thinking influence of postmodern art movement or better known as Contemporary Art movement (gerakan Seni Rupa Kontemporer). This postmodern thinking affects also the foundation of art education curriculum in Indonesia. The impact of postmodern thought in the art world with Contemporary Art movement does not necessarily coloring materials and learning strategies of art education in public schools in Indonesia. Reflecting the current state of the nation in which the identity and dignity of the nation experienced a prolonged crisis (especially since the reform movement in 1999), led to the idea to optimize the use of Contemporary Art in learning strategies art in schools . Philosophy , concepts and work processes underlying the realization of the works of Contemporary art is expected to be used as a learning medium to enhance the creative potential of the students not only in the creation of works of art , but at the same time build her potential as a whole (personal fullfillment). Celebration of difference and diversity, advocacy for traditional values and the recognition of local entities that are part of the thinking of Contemporary art, through creative strategies in art education, can be used to encourage the growth and development of a sense of belonging and pride as a nation. The idea Contemporary art applications in education (learning) in school of art is expected to inspire educators and art education stakeholders implement it creatively thus concretely support the aspiration to be a nation with a strong identity and dignity.
