ABSTRAKSI: Perkembangan tekonologi yang semakin pesat belakangan ini menyebabkan kebutuhan akan komunikasi data semakin meningkat. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh semakin meningkatnya permintaan akan high-speed Internet access. Selain kebutuhan kecepatan data yang semakin besar, dibutuhkan juga suatu network access dengan jangkauan yang luas. Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) merupakan teknologi alternatif terbaru untuk memenuhi permintaan tersebut.
WIMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) merupakan salah satu bentuk dari teknologi Broadband Wireless Access (BWA). WiMAX merupakan fixed Broadband Wireless Access yang mengacu pada standar IEEE 802.16. WiMAX mempunyai suatu standarisasi untuk mendisain algoritma packet-scheduling baru berdasarkan kebutuhan untuk mendukung Quality of Service (QoS) untuk layanan real time.
Dalam tugas akhir dibuat suatu tools atau perangkat lunak yang digunakan untuk memudahkan dalam perancangan jaringan pada WiMAX. Tools tersebut dibandingkan dengan tugas akhir sebelumnya yang menggunakan perhitungan secara manual, hasil dari perbandingannya adalah terdapat beberapa perbedaan pada hasil perhitungan jumlah cell, yang dikarenakan adanya perbedaan ketelitian antara perhitungan manual dengan perhitungan menggunakan software. Selain itu tools tersebut juga disimulasikan dengan menggunakan beberapa kasus. Dari hasil perhitungan yang didapat oleh tools dengan menggunakan beberapa kasus tersebut didapat faktor-faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi pendimensian pada jaringan WiMAX, antara lain jumlah penduduk, jumlah user, tinggi antena BS dan MS, dan frekuensi yang digunakan.

In this final task has been made a tool or software to be used to facilitate design of the WiMAX network. This Tools is compared with previous work which is using manual calculation, the results of the comparison is there are some differences in the calculation of the number of cells, which because of differences of accuracy between the manual calculations with calculations using the software. Additionally, this tools is also simulated by using a few cases. From the calculation results obtained by using the tools can be achieved in some cases the factors that influence Dimensioning of WiMAX networks, such as population, number of users, height of antenna BS and MS, and the frequency used.Keyword: Broadband Wireless Access (BWA), WiMAX, IEEE 802.16
