China has a long history of cloth making, and silk products were already vailable s early as the Yin Dynasty. The Patterns selected for this book have been collected from the clothing pterns of dynsties past. These include patterns from the Tang dynasty, characterised by flower patterns combined with with grass and nature motifs, as well as clothing patterns from the Ming Dynasty , which are elegant and exquisite. To give these special patterns contemporary relevance, the pattens have been adapted, recreated and refined with Adobe Illustrator and kept in a vector format, and can be easily used by designers of any discipline, be it fashion, textile, graphic or interior design.
