All participants of corporate governance aim to apply reforms, measures, and best practices to effectively fulfill their responsibilities. This volume focuses on the functions of corporate governance. A well-balanced functioning of interrelated corporate governance functions can produce effective corporate governance, reliable financial reports, and credible audit and assurance services. The seven corporate governance functions are oversight, managerial, compliance, internal audit, legal counsel/ financial advisers, external auditing, and monitoring functions. This volume, consisting of four chapters, presents the three prevailing corporate governance functions of oversight, management, and monitoring. The functions performed by other corporate gatekeepers are presented in the next volume. The effective performance of these functions collectively improves the quality of corporate governance in protecting the interests of all stakeholders.
