Sorghum is a versatile plant source. Sorghum may be used to replace corn as a food source and as animal feed. Silage is animal feed that retains a high water content as a consequence of keeping forage or components under anaerobic conditions (without oxygen), either with or without the use of preservatives. The operation of placing sliced sorghum into plastic barrels takes a long time and is performed over and over again. Coupled, the transfer procedure is still done by hand using a traditional shovel and bare hands. Based on direct interviews with employees in the Purabaya field, the majority of workers do not consider the ergonomic size of the shovel. As a result, the majority of the seven workers had back, waist, and arm discomfort. The second complaint was of discomfort in the shoulder, leg, and neck. As a result, the shovel must be redesigned. This final project employs a rational method, employing utility calculations to choose the design with the maximum value. Tools that have been redesigned using Rational approach, the design which is carried out by considering the anthropometric dimensions of workers is proven to be able to reduce the risk of injury to body posture by using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method. The REBA score obtained before the redesign was 11 and the REBA score obtained after the redesign was 9. Shovel redesign has also been proven to increase the work productivity of the three workers tested. The productivity of the first worker increased from 2.01 to 2.61, the second worker from 2.14 to 2.47, and the third worker from 2.09 to 2.48.
