This updated text emphasizes the continuity of human development throughout the lifespan with an increased emphasis on cross-cultural issues. A case study on language development introduced in the first chapter, serves as a springboard for the discussion of developmental issues.
This edition has also allowed me to treat in more detail the somewhat different experience of men and women as they cross the adults years. Too often text books blur the distinctions as if there is only one adults experience. However, human development examines the varying experience of men and women with regard to differences in health problems, divorce, single parenting, phases in adult development, career patterns, and response to aging.
