Batik history as well known throughout both an art an craft for centuries in Java. The etymology of batik in Javanese origin may be either from the Javanese “amba” (to write) and “titik” (dot or point). In Yogyakarta kraton, batik is a traditional cloth, hence, in Java, the finest batik cloth in the world is produced in this region. There is a symbolic structure in Yogyakarta batik kraton patterns. The classification of symbolic structures in Yogyakarta kraton batik pattern can be done as well as other cultural artifacts. The classification of symbolic structure in this paper is divided into visible and invisible aspect. Symbolic structure is also found in the cultural elements that have been stated by Koentjaraningrat much earlier. As a cultural identity, the symbolic structure on the pattern of Yogyakarta batik is in a limited scope.
