Abstraksi

ABSTRAKSI: Differentiated Services (Diffserv) dapat dipertimbangkan untuk pengembangan dunia internt saat ini, dan Multi Protocol Label Switching(MPLS) menyediakan fast packet switching dan kesempatan untuk rekayasa trafik. Lebih Dari Itu, MPLS dapat menyebar di atas suatu teknologi lapisan link seperti IP, ATM, dan Frame Relay. Maka, kombinasi dari keduanya, Diffserv dan MPLS menyajikan strategi yang sangat attraktif untuk penyedia backbone network.<br> Tugas akhir ini mencoba untuk menjelaskan konsep dari Diffserv, MPLS dan Diffserv + MPLS serta mengilustrasikan keefektifannya menggunakan simulasi dengan NS-2.<br> Dari hasil penelitian dan simulasi Diffserv+MPLS ini menunjukkan keistimewaan fast rerouting dari MPLS dan mengurangi masalah kegagalan link pada jaringan diffserv.Kata Kunci : ABSTRACT: Differentiated Services (DiffServ) is scalable for deployment in today’s Internet, and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) provides fast packet switching and the opportunity for traffic engineering. Thus, the combination of DiffServ and MPLS presents a very attractive strategy to backbone network providers.<br> This paper attempts to explain the con-cepts of DiffServ + MPLS and illustrate its effectiveness by performing a simulation using Network Simulator (ns-2).<br> The results show the fast rerouting feature of MPLS and how it alleviates the problem of link failures in DiffServ networks.Keyword:
