Abstraksi

ABSTRAKSI: Storage Area Network adalah suatu sistem media penyimpanan terpusat dalam jaringan, yang memungkinkan komputer server atau client untuk menggunakan media penyimpanan tersebut seolah-olah menggunakan penyimpanan lokal (local disk). Tujuan utama SAN adalah untuk menangani trafik data dalam jumlah besar antara server dan peralatan penyimpanan tanpa mengurangi bandwidth yang ada pada jaringan tersebut.SAN terdiri dari infrastruktur komunikasi yang memberikan komunikasi fisik dan lapisan manajemen yang mengatur sambungan elemen penyimpanan dan sistem komputer. Sehingga menghasilkan transfer data yang sangat aman dan handal. Implementasi SAN dapat menggunakan protokol internet Small Computer Standart Interface (iSCSI), ATA Over Ethernet (AoE) pada jaringan LAN dengan media kabel unshielded twisted pair (UTP) serta dapat menggunakan fiber channel. Pada tugas akhir ini diimplementasikan sebuah teknologi SAN menggunakan protokol ATA Over Ethernet. SAN menggunakan protokol ATA over Ethernet adalah salah satu alternatif untuk menutupi kekurangan implementasi SAN dengan protokol iSCSI. ATA over ethernet (AoE) merupakan protokol standart terbuka yang memungkinkan akses jaringan langsung ke disk drive oleh client. AoE menambahkan deretan metode penyediaan block device storage dengan memanfaatkan konektifitas jaringan. AoE memberikan faktor keamanan sejak awal karena AoE mengenkapsulasi perintah akses ke drive SATA melalui ethernet.Ata Over Ethernet bekerja hingga layer 2 sehingga memungkinkan transfer data antara initiator dan target lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan iSCSI yang bekerja hingga layer yang lebih tinggi. Performansi SAN menggunakan protokol ATA over ethernet yang dihasilkan pada tugas akhir ini adalah sebuah solusi storage yang dapat memberikan kinerja yang bagus dengan melihat kecepatan baca dan tulis pada harddisk. Pengujian yang telah dilakukanmenghasilkan bahwa SAN menggunakan protokol ATA over ethernetdapat memberikan kecepatan maksimal dengan kecepatan tulis sebesar 110321,566 KBps dan kecepatan baca sebesar 120247,76 KBps. Penggunaan storage area network juga tidak berpengaruh terhadap throughput layanan antara server initiator dan client. <br>Kata Kunci : storage area network, ata over ethernet, AOE, SAN, iozoneABSTRACT: Storage area network is a system media disk concentrate on network, that enable server of computer or client to use the media disk , as if use local disk. The purpose of SAN is to handle the data trafic on majority between server and feast the disk without decrease the bandwidth in the network. SAN consist of infrastructur communication which give physical communication and manajemen stratum that organize connected,element disk and computer system. So produces data transfer that safety and mainstay. Implementation of SAN can use protokol internet small computer standart interface ( iSCSI ), ATA over ethernet (AoE) on LAN network with unshielded twisted pair ( UTP ) cable media and to use fiber channel. On this paper, the implementation is a technologySAN use ATA over ethernet protocol. SAN use ATA over ethernet protocol is one of alternative to clossing the decrease of SAN implementation with iscsi protocol. ATA over ethernet (AoE) is standart open protocol that enables network access straight to drive disk by client. AoE added a line supplying metode block device storage with exploit the network connectifity. AoE give safety from the first because aoe capsulation the command of access to Sata drive by ethernet. Ata over ethernet work until layer 2, so unable data transfer between initiator and target more faster than iscsi which work until higher layer. Performance SAN use ata over ethernet protocol that produce in this paper is a solution storage which can give good job from write speed, read speed in harddisk. The testing in this paper is san use ata over ethernet protokol can give write speed is 110321,566 KBps and read speed is 120247,76 KBps.
