A current initiative in this direction is to promote the development of innovation. The transformation of the intellectual capital and available resources into new products, services, processes, or just added value to the society is one of the paths to enhance the prosperity of a country. However, this intention is immersed in a complex context. In the emergent countries, companies achieve performance under challenging conditions, for instance, the technologies are not always accessible, the workforce does not have the required competences or demand constant training not easily available; the lack of techniques to facilitate the assimilation of new technologies and to learn from others; A limited perception about the technical side of innovation, which produces the impression that this process depends on a random creative effort, and no less important, a low assimilation degree of tools for planning the evolution of a product or an innovation system. Despite this complicated circumstances, the internal market and capacities continue to grow.
This book explores how the innovation process is carried out under such conditions.
