Bandung is the capital city of West Java Province. The city was originally founded as the plantation area in 1810 and officially declared as an open city in 1906. Alongside with its development during the Dutch colonial period, city of Bandung was referred to as "het centrum van intellectueeleNederlandsch-Indie"; or intellectual center in the Dutch East Indies. Not only known for its plantation area, later on Bandung is also being acknowledged as the city of education and industry. Various leading schools, colleges and universities have being established in this city. Apart forthe textiles industry; household market, fashion and electronic goods are also growing in Bandung.
